NAIOP Northern Virginia, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, was chartered in 1980 by a group of local developers. Governed by a Board of Directors and Executive Committee, which is elected annually, NAIOP Northern Virginia's professional staff is located in Alexandria, Virginia. With chapters across North America, NAIOP Northern Virginia is one of the largest with over 900 members.
The association offers a full complement of services for its membership, including: monthly educational programs, an annual bus tour, annual awards program, annual and mid-year real estate forecasts, golf tournaments and legislative representation at the state and local level

NAIOP Corporate (Commercial Real Estate Development Association) is a national association with over 19,500 members and an extensive network of chapters that represent the interests of developers and owners of industrial, office and related commercial real estate throughout North America. NAIOP provides communication, networking and business opportunities for all real estate related professionals; provides a forum for continuing education; and promotes effective public policy, through its grassroots network, to create, protect and enhance property values.
Members of the 51 NAIOP Chapters have great opportunities at the local level to enhance their business through educational programs, networking and government affairs.
Members can also get involved at the national level by attending conferences for continuing education, participating in National Forums for professional development and working to advance legislative initiatives like real estate taxation issues on Capitol Hill.
The forum for commercial real estate both locally and nationally, NAIOP promotes effective public policy through its grassroots network to create, protect and enhance property values. In 2017, NAIOP celebrated it's 50th anniversary and that lead the organization to look ahead to the next 50 years and the future of commercial real estate.
